It might sound like a mouthful, but it's actually a very good idea when it comes to controlling the temperature in your conservatory. You may have heard of polycarbonate as one of the choices available when it comes to installing the windows of your conservatory. This can be fitted with a reflective insulating coating that keeps in the heat during the colder winter months. You can also buy polycarbonate reflective insulation in sheets which can be fitted to existing conservatory windows to get the same effect.
The benefits are enormous. It's quite possible that having polycarbonate reflective insulation is the best way to make sure that the heat inside your conservatory stays inside during the winter, and reflects off the roof during the summer, meaning your conservatory stays cooler and much more bearable. Another huge advantage is that sheets of polycarbonate reflective insulation are extremely cheap to buy, and very easy for anyone to fit. Polycarbonate reflective insulation is the perfect way to ensure your conservatory doesn't become unusable on the hottest days of the year.
The only possible problem is if you buy sheeting to use on your existing windows. Generally speaking you would fit this sheeting to every window in your conservatory for the maximum effect, including those in the roof section. This will mean you have tricky triangular sections to measure and cut out, which can be rather fiddly - not so much cutting them out but getting the right measurements in the first place. Get someone to help you do this if you are a little unsure about how to go about it.
There are no real disadvantages to having polycarbonate reflective insulation fitted. When you think about the environmentally friendly angle, the fact that it is quick and easy for anyone to do and the ease on your pocket, it's hard to find a disadvantage to highlight.
